||G. S. L. City, U.T. - Salt Lake City Corporation $2 June 9, 1868 Rust 113 Nyholm 125. PCGS Extremely Fine 40 PPQ. This next series from G.S.L. City differs from the previous and removes the word "Great" from the title. An attractive lithographed series, printed on both sides by J.D. Seymour, Kennard & Hay, Engr., New York. At the bottom of the face are oxen, flanked by green protector lathe work rectangles over denomination text. The title is curved above the vignette. The ornate and deep green emblem back shows protector "2" at the center, with the title across top, and PAYABLE IN U.S. CURRENCY along the bottom. This is also a very scarce type and in superior grade; it exceeds the VF-EF example from the Ford VI Sale, Lot 652 at $2,012.50. Perfectly centered on both sides and impressive for the type. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
Realized $5,170.00. Newman VI (Heritage Auctions, 4/2015), lot 19361. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.
