||Fox Lake, WI - Bank of Fox Lake $2 July 1, 1857 WI-205 G6. Proof. PCGS Choice About New 58PPQ. There are some proofs known from this bank, including some owned by Ford and sold in the Krause Collection sales. However, this is the rarest series from the bank and is not pictured in the Krause Wisconsin book. Printed on a $2-$5 sheet configuration by Wellstood, Hay & Whitting, New York, with the July 1, 1857 date, and on India paper only. Like many in this sale, it might be the only example known. At the top center is an eagle, flanked by seated Plenty and Bounty. At the lower left is a farmer sharpening a long scythe. Hole Punch Cancelled as prepared at the time. There is only very trivial handling, otherwise it has the appearance of a Gem proof. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
