Description Madison, WI - Wisconsin Bank of Madison $10 18__ WI-405 G8a. Proof. PCGS Superb Gem New 67PPQ. A second, absolutely stunning Gem from this rare bank with full color, engraved by Wellstood, Hay & Whiting, New York. Printed on India paper and mounted on original cardstock. The larger denominations were prepared on a $5-$5-$5-$10 sheet. The red tint covers the note with a micro-lettered TEN pattern, vermillion counters are at the top corners, and an outlined white "X" is at left center. At the lower left is a male portrait. At the right, a farmer reclines while holding a scythe. Hole Punch Cancelled through the India paper only. The other example observed in private hands came from the 2007 Wellstood Album sold at Memphis by Smythe; part of $5-$10 proof pair, it was affixed to paper.
