Description Granite Creek, I.T. - Alex. Danskin Dealer in General Merchandise 25 cents March 17, 1874 Durand UNL. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. Scrip notes from Idaho are very rare. This shows the size and style of a Fourth Issue 25 cents note, particularly on the back. Lithographed, it shows the imprint of A. Bancroft & Co. Lith. S. F. Interesting face design, as the left portrait resembles U.S. Grant, but it is likely Danskin. Titles are across and at the far right, the issuer and location. The green back shows lathe work with "25" at center. Noted are "Minor Rust Stains." This a charming type and we have seen only one other, the Ford XX note that realized $5,175 in October 2007. Rare western location and style. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $1,175.00. Newman VI (Heritage Auctions, 4/2015), lot 19447. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.
