Continental Currency February 26, 1777 $30 Fr. CC-62. PCGS About New 53PPQ. The notes from this resolution were issued "at Baltimore," where the Continental Congress met from December 20, 1776, to February 27, 1777, due to the British occupation of Philadelphia. This is highest denomination from the issue and the final use of the dual-emblem back (first used on the May 10, 1775, $20 Marbled Border notes). The face emblem shows a wreath on a tomb with the motto SI RECTE FACIES (If you act righteously, you will be honored after death). Franklin discussed this emblem at length in his Account, encouraging both the people and the Congress to act in such a way as to merit the laurel wreath crown of honor and "with a long duration of that honour, expressed by the monument of marble." This is a premium example for the technical grade. Wide margined on both sides and with perfect face-to-back registration. All three emblems on the note are boldly detailed.
