Description | Continental Currency January 14, 1779 $45 Fr. CC-96. PCGS Choice New 63PPQ. A very bold and choice example of this two-color, odd denomination first introduced on this resolution. The emblem was also designed by Hopkinson and features beehives protected by a shed. The motto SIC FLORET RESPUBLICA (Thus let the nation flourish) circles around. Complete margins are broad at the top and right as the note was positioned at the upper right of the eight-note pane. Very well printed, with striking red color in the border and emblem swatch. Difficult to find in this choice grade and premium quality. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society From Newman VIII (Heritage Auctions, 11/2017), lot 28207, realized $1200.
