Continental Currency May 20, 1777 $3 Fr. CC-64. PCGS Choice New 63. The First United States issue, named for the placement of "The United States" into the top border cut, has traditionally been considered the second hardest resolution to find. In high grades, this is especially true. The printing is very sharp, with the eagle and heron fighting emblem lifting off the note in a three dimensional manner. The face margins are clear and even. The note is centered perfectly on the paper. This has a PPQ look, and the paper surfaces appear immaculate to us. This is tied with one other note as finest graded by PCGS. PMG reports not grading a note above Very Fine. A marvelous $3 type from this famous title issue. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
