(Canandaigua), NY) - Lot of 3 War of 1812 Era Ontario Bank Issued Change Notes. These are bank payable change notes signed by the bank's "Prest. p.t.," or president pro tem. Very unusual notes that are unlisted in Haxby and Harris, but should be classified as bank issues from the home bank location in Canandaigua or Utica; they are difficult to attribute with certainty. 6-1/4 Cents Dec. 1, 1815 NY-541 UNL. PCGS Fine 12 Apparent. In a simple style with an oval shaded counter and "6 ?" at center. Signed at lower right. The right end is wide. Noted with "Minor Rust Stains." 12-1/2 Cents Dec. 1, 1815 NY-541 UNL. PCGS Fine 12 Apparent. Same series and style. The oval with "12 1/2" is at the center." A wide margin is at the left. Noted with "Hinge Repaired Tears." 50 Cents Dec. 1, 1815 NY-541 UNL. PCGS Very Fine 30 Apparent. A third denomination, with the style slightly different. An oval with "50" is in the center.
