New Jersey April 16, 1764 30 Shillings Contemporary Counterfeit Fr. NJ-167. PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent. This is another rare circulating counterfeit note that has an overall look distinguishing it from a genuine note. Both known counterfeit types have the sun's rays on the face crossing over the circumference. The major diagnostic is on the back, with the misspelled word "Shillgns" at the right side. Noted with "Minor Paper Pulls; Small Edge Splits." This is a very interesting example. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016).
