Description |
State of New Jersey 1786 6 Shillings Fr. NJ-213. PCGS Very Fine 25. This is a very scarce series of notes and particularly so in grades Very Fine or better; the majority is known rather soiled and frayed. The face has the State Arms in red and the backs with the nature print. The quality of this 6 Shilling example is on a par with the Boyd notes sold at Ford Part XV and superior to the notes in James DuPont's 1993 Smythe auction. This is an undervalued series without high grade hoards known. A superior type note and late Colonial Currency type. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
Realized $1,175.00. Newman VI (Heritage Auctions, 4/2015), lot 19512. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions. |
