State of New Jersey 1786 15 Shillings Fr. NJ-215. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. The 1786 New Jersey notes are very scarce, particularly in high grade. This is an attractive example overall for the technical grade. The red text is vibrant. Noted with "Small Hole and Hinge Repair near Top Center; Minor Stains." We are aware of only three auction records for just two different notes. Our May 2003 sale had a Choice Very Fine that sold for $3,220. It resold in May 2004 for $3,565. Ford XV in October 2006 had an "Extra Fine" that sold for $6,900. This example is just the third known to us. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society
