Description | Unknown Location, (New Jersey) - Isaac L, Milnor 9 Pence December 1, 1787 Newman page 266, Wait 2498. PCGS Good 6. An extremely rare private scrip note, issued by a Philadelphia merchant and payable to "Bearer on Demand in New Jersey." Printed in all green without imprint. Ornate bordering is all around. There are listed 6 pence and 9 pence notes; the former is the Newman Plate Note and printed in black ink. This 9 pence is only the second example we know of. The DuPont note sold in Smythe's March 1993 sale was vastly inferior. This boasts a strong signature. Ironically, this Good 6 example might be the finest known. An important note for the New Jersey specialist. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016). lot 86139.
