Description Virginia April 1, 1773 20 Shillings James River Bank Form Fr. VA-62. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. The James River Bank forms from Virginia are another rather unique looking series of notes. They were issued in two series, with those from April 1, 1773 scarcer. The face shows an indenting design pattern and a small ship vignette at the left. Fine engraved texts are across the notes, with blank spaces for the handwritten denominations. Printed backs feature ornamental bordering and the counterfeit warning. The blank notes, prior to being filled in for issuance, were in books of 100 notes. This is a superb type note from the series, and virtually at the top of the condition ladder. Signed by Peyton Randolph, John Blair, and Robert Carter Nicholas. A broad sized note that has a very wide margin at the bottom. The note still has some traces of original embossing. Noted on with "Small Edge Splits and Tears." An attractive type note from this scarcer James River Bank issue. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society Realized $1057.50. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18217.
