Virginia May 6, 1776 4 Pounds Fr. VA-101. PCGS Extremely Fine 40PPQ. The highest and the key denomination from this thick paper series. Unpriced in the Newman 5th edition reference and noted as very rare in Friedberg. We note only one auction record in the last few decades. The note is gorgeous, fresh and natural with modest circulation. The "Very Fine" Boyd note auctioned in the March 2007 Ford XVII sale for $1,380. This is a very underrated Virginia type and the rarest denomination of the series. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society
