New Jersey December 31, 1763 3 Shillings Raised to 30 Shillings. Fr. NJ-154. PCGS Fine 12 Apparent. A unique example since it is handmade from a genuine 3 shillings from the period in order to increase its face value considerably. This is a fascinating note for study. Interestingly, the "r" is missing from the two instances of the denomination on the face, but is present on the back. Also, note there is a vertical row of six crown ornaments next to the arms stamped on the notes. Richard Smith's bold signature is above those of Jonathan Johnston and S. Skinner. Grading notes "Edge Splits," which are meaningless in the value of this fascinating example. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
