(Circa-1864) Higley Copper, MS62 Bolen Silver Copy, Musante JAB-10Bolen's picturesque copy of the equally rare (but much more costly) W-8200 Three Hammers Higley copper. Chestnut-brown and powder-blue toning visits the satiny and unabraded surfaces of this lustrous Mint State piece. The peripheral strike is incomplete, which allows vestiges of roller marks (as made) near 3 o'clock on both sides. Copper examples were struck by both Bolen and Edwards, and are plentiful by Bolen medal standards. Much rarer pieces exist in silver, brass, or German silver (nickel alloy). The Bolen mintages were 40 in copper and two in silver. Three silver, five copper, and three brass examples appeared in Part XIV of the Ford sale in May 2006. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
