(Circa-1869) Carolina Elephant Token, MS64 Brown J.A. Bolen Copy, Copper, Musante JAB-33The rare W-12120 Carolina / Proprietors Elephant token is the subject of a well-made copy by 19th-century engraver J.A. Bolen of Springfield, Massachusetts. Although designated as Brown by NGC, this Choice example retains considerable peach-gold color within the legends and about the pachyderm. The open fields and high points are medium brown, with an area of somewhat deeper toning on the central reverse. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
