Remarkable 1771 Peck-ZZ Halfpenny, VFThis rare, popular, and remarkable imitation halfpence has the central designs facing the wrong direction, with the date and lettering mostly backward. Starting at 5 o'clock, and observing from outside the coin, the legend reads counterclockwise GEO(R)GI(V)S III (R)EX with both Rs inverted and the V over an inverted V. BRITANNIA also has a mixture of regular and inverted letters, reading counterclockwise from 5 o'clock. The date is backward. This semi-glossy olive-brown example has smooth and problem-free surfaces, save for a tiny rim bump over the middle I in III. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
