The Finest Known 1776 Rubber LadyBritannia's arms and legs have an elastic appearance that gives this halfpence family its name. The family currently consists of eight varieties from four obverse dies and five reverse dies dated 1761, 1769, 1769 (Ireland), and 1776. This example is the finest known of either 1776-dated variety, and is possibly the finest known for the Rubber Lady family. Some strike weakness is evident, although the olive-brown surfaces are virtually flawless. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
