1781 Imitation British Halfpenny, XF Newman 42-81C Plate ObverseThe obverse is plated in Eric's 1988 article. This example is clearly finer than the plate coin in Contemporary Counterfeit Halfpenny & Farthing Families. We have no records of ever handling this variety before, and it is possibly the finest known. Both sides exhibit glossy olive-brown surfaces with minimal handling evidence.
