1781 Imitation British Halfpenny, VF Newman 43-81D Plate CoinThis is the plate coin for obverse 43 and reverse 81D in Eric's 1988 article. A splendid olive-brown example, and slightly finer than the Contemporary Counterfeit Halfpenny & Farthing Families plate coin. Heavy clash marks are noted at the top of the obverse. This group of 1781 and 1785 imitation halfpence is unrivaled in recent memory. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
