Description Berrian Counterfeit Detector in Original Box A nickel-plated brass counterfeit detector, with slots for weighing and measuring all U.S. gold and silver coins above the quarter denomination. Patented by the Berrian Manufacturing Co. of New York on February 27, 1877. Housed in the original blue box. Accompanied by an original instruction flyer, several photocopies, and photographic negatives. A short descriptive note from Eric P. Newman, indicates the instruction flyer was owned by Becky Wright before it was sent to Newman by George Mallis in 1996. Approximate dimensions: 10.0 x 2.5 x 0.7 inches. Ex: Eric P.
