Fairbanks Counterfeit Detector in the Original Box Fairbanks & Co. is stamped on both the nickel-plated rocker arm and on the decorated cast iron base. Includes the supplemental peg for weighing gold dollars. The original box is well-worn at the corners and has tape repairs. Both the inside and outside lid labels are present. Purchased in 1989 from Gorlick, this simple and effective rocker-arm counterfeit detector was an adaptation of the original Thompson patent and the McNally-Harrison design. Only minor spotting is present on the nickel plate, and only slight wear is on the base. Box size is 9.1 x 2.4 x 2.0 inches. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
