Troemner's Circa 1850 Gold Coin Scale Presented to Honorable Henry H. FowlerThis intricate scale was designed by Henry Troemner, of Philadelphia, circa 1850. It was set up to weigh one coin at a time. The weights to accompany it were made in England. Raised platform pans with stops underneath prevent wild oscillations between uses. A brass plaque on the wooden stand is inscribed TO HONORABLE HENRY H. FOWLER/FROM THE/U.S. CUSTOMS SERVICE/DECEMBER 1968. Measures approximately 14 x 6.8 x 12.5 inches. Ex: Eric P.
