Splendid English Monarch Money ChangerThis vintage English Monarch money changer holds pre-decimal British silver coins including sixpence, shillings, florins, and half crowns. Gravity-fed metal coin tubes accommodate two vertical rows of shillings and one row for each of the other denominations. A spring-loaded metal security plate pulls down for manual access to the silver coinage, which dispenses one coin at a time from the base of each tube. A brass bell sounds whenever the security plate opens or closes, with a lever to hold the plate open during use. A cast metal coin tray catches coins as they drop -- shillings and sixpence at the right, florins and half crowns at the left. An oak cabinet houses the mechanism, with a drawer for paper currency in the base. The metal parts show only minor use wear, and the oak cabinet is in good condition with slight water stains along the bottom edge of the front base molding. The brass drawer pull is not original to the piece, and there is no drawer key included. Measures 10 inches wide x 14 inches tall x 9 inches deep. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
