[bound with] Haym, Nicholas. The British Treasury; Being Cabinet the First of Our Greek and Roman Antiquities of All Sorts... Two volumes. London, 1719 & 1720. (2), xi, (1), 157, (1); v, (1), 86 pages; woodcut headpieces and initials. [bound with] de Boze, (Claude Gros). Lettre de Monsieur de Boze sur une M�daille Antique de Smyrne du Cabinet de Monsieur le Comte de Thoms... La Haye, 1744. (4), 51, (1) pages; engraved illustrations. Thick 4to [24.5 by 21.5 cm], contemporary pigskin, elaborately decorated in blind; spine with four raised bands; tan leather spine label; all page edges dappled red. Bound with the two parts of The British Treasury bound between the two parts of Del Tesoro Britannico, followed by the Lettre. Front flyleaf annotated in a contemporary hand. A handsome volume; very good or better. Very scarce. No further parts were issued. Though a "Roman," the author resided in England, where this work was published in Italian with English summaries. Haym intended to publish a corpus of Greek and Roman coins in English collections, with notes on rarity, but only the two parts were published. Contained therein are coins from 17 major cabinets, including those of the Earl of Pembroke, the Duke of Devonshire, and the University of Oxford. Estimate $750.
