No printer's imprint. Third edition. Small 4to, original green cloth, front cover lettered and decorated in gilt. (4), 42, (1) pages, pagination skipping one page; frontispiece; Treasury Department facsimile letter; 15 engraved plates of bank notes or elements, comprising impressions of genuine and counterfeit fractional currency notes (Plate 1), 10 engraved plates numbered 2-11 depicting genuine bank note design elements, and four unnumbered plates being impressions of an unfinished counterfeit $20 First National Bank of New York note and an unfinished counterfeit $10 Merchants National Bank of Chicago note, as well as counterfeit 1863 $5 and 1862 $100 United States notes. Plate 5 printed in green ink and erroneously numbered 4; full-size counterfeit plates printed in green and black ink and not hole-punched. Spine cloth torn; hinge cracked and frontispiece detached from spine; some foxing to plates. Very good or so. Estimate $300 Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
