Rare 1869 Ordway American Bond Detector Red and Black Plate VariantWashington, D.C.: Published by the American Bond and Currency Detector Company, 1869; Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1869, by Nehemiah George Ordway, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the United States for the District of New-Hampshire. Oblong folio [24 by 34.5 cm], original maroon cloth; upper cover impressed in gilt with elaborate title design; same design impressed in blind on rear cover. Haehnlen of Philadelphia, depicting American and foreign coins in relief and in metallic tints on a rich brown background. Differs from the above volume by being in the more usually encountered cloth binding, by having plate 18 printed in red and black (as opposed to green and black), and by having the copyright being entered, as more usually seen, by Nehemiah George Ordway rather than by John P.
