Description Rare 1869 Ordway American Bond Detector Green and Black Plate Variant Washington, D.C.: Published by the American Bond and Currency Detector Company, 1869; Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1869, by Nehemiah George Ordway, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the United States for the District of New-Hampshire. Oblong folio [24 by 34.5 cm], original brown pebbled cloth; upper cover impressed in gilt with elaborate title design. (6), 100 pages; 22 superb steel-plate intaglio printed plates, several in two colors, of United States bonds and design elements [Plate 18 printed in green and black]; 9 handsome plates printed by J. Haehnlen of Philadelphia, depicting American and foreign coins in relief and in metallic tints on a rich brown background. Differs from the above volume by being in a pebbled cloth binding and by having plate 18 printed in green and black (as opposed to red and black). Clain-Stefanelli 13461. Sigler 72.
