Description The First 10 Editions of the Red BookThe first 10 editions. Racine: Whitman Publishing Company, 1946-1956. 12mo, all in the original red cloth or leatherette bindings, gilt. The first edition copy is a second printing. The condition is as follows: First--very good or better with nice front cover gilt and decent spine gilt, but binding is a bit cocked. Second--spine sunned, near fine. Third--spine a little sunned, near fine. Fourth--first state (blue endpapers rather than white), a bit sunned, near fine or so. Fifth--very good. Sixth--coin shop stamp, else near fine. Seventh--very good. Eighth--very good, with Eric P. Newman's name impressed in gilt at the base of the front cover. Ninth--spine head chipped, very good or so.
