Massachusetts Pine Tree Shilling Imitation AU55 NGC. Newman-PS. This lot is the Newman plate coin for Newman-PS in Eric Newman's classic 1959 reference of numismatic sleuthing, The Secret of the Good Samaritan Shilling. Although the holder states that this imitation of Noe-1 was made circa-1958, it is likely older. The light chestnut-gold surfaces are smooth and satiny, and the low-relief design is far from deceiving. It could be many years before the next opportunity to obtain an example arrives. Ex: Eric P.
