1770 Contemporary Counterfeit British Halfpenny, XF. This splendid example is identified as variety 2-70A in the "Coin X" family of imitation halfpence. This well-made family could have been the work of a then-current or former Tower Mint engraver. Delicate blue overtones appear on the glossy light brown surfaces. Ex: Eric P.
