| Description |
1773 Imitation British Halfpenny, XF. King George III has a rather peculiar appearance on this piece, which we call an Imitation due to the backward S in GEORGIVS. This likely represents a distinct family although we have failed to locate the variety in the new book on the series. An attractive chocolate and olive-brown example with smooth surfaces and good eye appeal. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
Heritage Auctions 11/2018 (Newman XI), lot15546 (realized $228).
