Fictitious Date Group of Imitation British Halfpence. The last Regal issue was dated 1775, so any pieces bearing later dates are contemporary counterfeits. This interesting lot includes eight examples dated 1776 and three examples dated 1777. One of the latter has the edge lettered BIRMINGHAM REDRUTH & SWANSEA. These halfpence grade Good to VF. This lot should be examined carefully for examples of American use or origin. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
