Porter Counterfeit Detector. A wooden case housing brass hardware with French glass includes a grid system for comparing a suspect note with a genuine note. Former Secret Service agent Thomas Porter patented this detector in 1916. Excellent condition. Approximate dimensions are 11.8 x 9.8 2.4 inches. Also included is a 4.5-inch diameter black "Spuriscope" as described in "Notes on Paper" by Gene Hessler in the August 2000 issue of The Numismatist. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
