Two Nickel Rocker U.S. Gold and Silver Counterfeit Coin Detector Scales. Very Good to Fine. The first item is a Fairbanks nickel rocker scale mounted on a wooden base with label. The rocker has slots to measure the weight, diameter, and thickness of all U.S. gold and silver coin denominations from 25 cents to 20 dollars on one side and a counterweight on the other. J.T. McNALLY/INVENTOR is inscribed on the counterweight. The second item is a similar counterfeit coin detector scale, from the Abbott Machine Co. of Chicago, including the gold dollar counterweight that is often missing from these scales. A brief descriptive note on a circular tag from Eric P. Newman says this was McNally's patent. The number 1497 is inscribed on the counterweight. Both items measure approximately 9 x 2.5 x 1.8 inches. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
