Fairbanks Nine-Slot Counterfeit Detector. A Fairbanks single beam balance counterfeit detector with nine coin slots. The slots are designated for the dime, quarter, half dollar, silver dollar, double eagle, eagle, half eagle, three dollar piece, and quarter eagle. Black-painted rectangular base. The side of the beam is stamped FAIRBANKS but there is no patent date. A small paper inscribed "27" is taped to the bottom of the base. Very fine condition with most of the paint intact. The base measures 4.5 x 3.3 inches. The scale is 4.7 inches tall when balanced. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
