Fairbanks Double Beam Counterfeit Detector. This Fairbanks double beam balancing counterfeit detector has 10 coin slots. The slots are stamped for four silver denominations - the dime, quarter, half dollar, and dollar; and five gold denominations - the dollar, quarter eagle, three dollar piece, half eagle, eagle, and double eagle. The rectangular base is painted black. The side of the beam is stamped PAT'D JUNE 3 1879. In very good condition, with most of the paint worn off and a slight bend in the corner of the balance platform. A small paper inscribed with the number 3 is taped to the bottom of the base. The base measures 4.5 x 3.3 inches. The scale is 4.7 inches tall when balanced. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
