Fairbanks Double Beam Counterfeit Detector. A Fairbanks double beam balancing counterfeit coin detector, here with nine slots, stamped for the dime, quarter, half dollar, silver dollar, double eagle, eagle, half eagle, three dollar piece, and quarter eagle. The rectangular base is painted black. The balance arm is stamped PAT'D. FEB. 26. 1895 beneath the balance platform and FAIRBANKS / L.J.M. / 11 at the opposite end. A small paper inscribed with the number 26 is taped to the bottom of the base. In excellent condition, retaining all original paint and showing no mentionable imperfections. The base measures 4.5 x 3.3 inches. The scale is 4.7 inches tall when balanced. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
