Four English Sovereign Scales. Good to Fine. The first item is "Harrison's Improved Sovereign Balance" mounted in the original wooden box. This brass rocker scale has two slotted pans inscribed sovereign and half sovereign on one side of the beam and a counterweight with the image of a crown, BUSH'D, and HARRISON inscribed on the other. BIRM is stamped on the base. IMPROVED PATENT is stamped on the outside lid, and a blue advertising label is pasted inside. The second item is another brass English sovereign scale, with the customary inscribed pans and counterweight. This scale has the image of a crown and BUSH'D inscribed on the counterweight, with SMITH on the beam. The base is inscribed IMPROVED/PATENT/WARRANTED. Housed in a well-worn original cardboard box. The third item is an "IMPROVED SOVEREIGN BALANCE" in the original, slightly caved in, cardboard box. This brass rocker scale features the usual inscribed pans for the sovereign and half sovereign on one side and the counterweight on the other. The counterweight has the image of a crown inscribed on top. Another crown is inscribed on the base, with SOVEREIGN above and WARRANTED below. The final item is "T. SIMMONS'S IMPROVED SOVEREIGN BALANCE" in the original, well-preserved cardboard box. This brass rocker scale resembles the last one in all respects, with the same inscriptions, except the style of the crown is slightly different. Each measures approximately 4 x 1 x 0.9 inches.
