Lot of three counterfeit coin detectors. The first item is an H. Maranville, Akron, Ohio, dial detector, patented April 30, 1878, has gauges for diameter and thickness of U.S. gold and silver coins, as well as a counterweight balance for detecting underweight coins. Very good condition. Measures 3.5 x 1.5 x 1.0 inches. The second item is an H. Maranville brass pocket counterfeit detector patented January 13, 1857, Clinton, Ohio. Made by C.E. Staples, Worcester, Massachusetts, per the stamp on the bottom. The detector has diameter and thickness gauges for foreign and U.S. gold and silver coins, as well as a sliding weight scale. Fine condition. Measures 3.1 x 1.9 x 0.4 inches. The third item is a J.C. Dell, Philadelphia, counterweight rocker counterfeit coin detector is cast brass and has two coin slots - one for a half dollar and the other for a quarter. Very good condition. Measures 5.4 x 1.6 x 1.4 inches. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
