Description 19th Century Miner's Scale Trio, Good to Very Good. An impressive offering of three 19th century miner's scales. The first is an American gold miner's scale housed in a maroon oval tin box with a gilt American Eagle and Shield surrounded by a wreath on the cover. Paint is faded and chipped in some areas. An uncovered weight compartment contains a set of six weights, from 1 to 6 dwts. A written descriptive note in Eric P. Newman's hand accompanies the scale. The second scale is housed in a smaller maroon oval tin box, again with an American Eagle and Shield, but this time in maroon paint, which has faded and chipped in some areas. An uncovered weight compartment contains four weights, from 3 to 6 dwts. The third scale is housed in a dark blue oval tin box with a gilt American Eagle and Shield surrounded by a wreath on the cover. An uncovered weight compartment contains a set of six weights, from 1 to 6 dwts. Some light corrosion shows on the oval pans of the balance. A descriptive note in Eric P.
