Large Troemner Bullion Scale, 1877. Very Fine. A large bullion scale, with a red metal base and an oversized pan balance with brass pans. Manufactured by Henry Troemner of Philadelphia, patented on February 18, 1877. The base is inscribed METRIC No. 10 and has 12 custom insets for bell-style weights. The two kilo weight on the right is actually a false lid, covering a deeper inset for five smaller weights. A short descriptive note on a circular tag from Eric P. Newman accompanies the scale. Dimensions are approximately 21 x 7 x 8 inches. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
