1898 Wenneker Morris Candy Company Desk Set. A single unit in brass, this desk set includes a glass ink well (missing the lid), a dial-type postal scale, and an 1898 paper calendar. Established in 1889, the Wenneker-Morris Candy Company was located at 217-219 Pine Street in St. Louis. A review in the August 31, 1890, issue of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch notes that the company has "surrounded itself with facilities of the most complete and elaborate character." The company merged with Blanke & Brothers in 1904 to become the Blanke-Wenneker Candy Company, and remained in business until the late 1920s. Overall Very Good condition (10.0 x 7.0 x 4.5 inches).
