Antique British Beam Scale. This is a simple, equal-arm beam scale, maker unknown, with a rectangular box base including a drawer. It is in original, good condition. The drawer has two circular recesses for weights and chain, and comes with an extra length of chain plus one 15 dwt. weight. The screw-mounted balance mechanism is brass with an iron crossbeam, and it shows a light coat of rust on the beam plus a few areas of discoloration on the brass components. Its box base is rudimentary in construction and joinery, with some cracks, splits, and old repairs. The base measures approximately 11.8 x 5.7 x 4 inches, while the metal scale is an additional 10 inches tall. Each brass pan measures approximately 4.3 inches in diameter. Ex: Eric P.
