Rare Staats Gold and Silver Coin Changer. Very Good. A rare Staats coin changer, with nine coin stacks representing all U.S. copper, silver, and gold coin denominations from cent to double eagle. Triggers manually release coins from the stacks into the teller's hands. A silver and gold coin sorting tray on top has slots for all denominations and a rectangular depression for loose change. Most Staats changers we have seen rely on separate silver and gold racks, and gold is not normally a part of the coin triggering system. These changers were primarily used in the Western United States. Patented on February 25, 1890. The dimensions are approximately 16.8 x 9 x 8 inches. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
