American Sunday-School Union [publisher]. The Four Pistareens; or, "Honesty Is the Best Policy." Philadelphia, 1837. 16mo, original calf-backed marbled boards; spine lettered in gilt. 35, (1) pages; hand-colored woodcut frontispiece; four additional hand-colored text illustrations. Some spotting and discoloration; binding rubbed, but sound. Very good. A charming moral story for children in which our hero's quandary is precipitated when he confuses pistareens for quarters, leading to both a numismatic and an ethical lesson. This was a display item at the Newman Money Museum. Estimate $200. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
