Newspapers. Lot of 19th-century Newspapers with Articles of Numismatic Interest. Group of fifteen 19th-century newspapers plus clipped pages from various popular publications including Harper's Weekly and Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, 1801-1873. Titles include: Providence Gazette; Boston Gazette; Sacramento Daily Union; San Francisco Daily Morning Call; Stockton Weekly Independent; New York Times; United States Gazette; Boston Weekly Messenger; Daily Troy Centinel; and Columbian Centinel. Topics include broken banks, bank note lists and discounts, Confederate paper money, Civil War tokens, National Gold Bank Notes, Mint Reports, wholesale prices, postal currency, and premiums paid for silver dollars. Four issues of the Columbian Centinel (1801-1802), with handwritten notes by Eric P. Newman, are a highlight. Generally very good, though folded. All on decent paper. Estimate $150. Ex: Eric P.
