[Stereoscopes]. Stereoscopic Images Depicting the U.S. Mint or the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Approximately 55 cards, each around 9 by 18 cm with two photographic images of mint-related or BEP-related scene. Only a little duplication. Most produced in the first decade of the 20th century by Underwood & Underwood; Keystone View Company; Strohmeyer & Wyman; Centennial Views; or Webster & Albee. One 1925 image in color is also included. Generally fine or nearly so. Stereograms were popular around the turn of the 20th century, and were available depicting a variety of topics. Sets of cards depicting work being conducted at the U.S. Mint and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing were designed to entertain the general public with views of enormous amounts of money being produced. While not made with numismatists in mind, they provide rare views of working conditions and processes in these institutions and are appreciated today by collectors. Estimate $400. Ex: Eric P.
