Description | Georgia (1776) Undated $3 Fr. GA-79. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. This is another unusual and distinctive series printed on eight-subject sheets. Interesting folk art style vignettes are seen on this undated series, which likely was printed at the same time as the same size format Gold Option notes. The $3 was the lowest denomination from the issue and shows the Crossed Cannon vignette at the lower right. Printed in black with interspersed red including the denomination. The five signatures are quite bold. Mostly broad and well margined. Noted are "Edge and Internal Splits; Mounting Remnants and Minor Damage on Back." The Boyd note (Ford Part X: Lot 4537), considerably finer, realized $10,925 in May 2005. The overall appearance is quite attractive and the note rarely obtainable. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society From Newman VIII (Heritage Auctions, 11/2017), lot 28018, realized $1560. Image and description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, https://ha.com. |
